Hello current and prospective MTGK families!

We hope that everyone’s summer has been relaxing. It’s hard to believe it, but the semester’s already started for our Plano and Irving centers, and this week’s the last chance for you to enroll your student. If you are a returning student, you can walk-in and enroll for your class. However, new students need to be given a placement exam, so it would be best to call ahead to set up an appointment.

The McKinney and Murphy locations start next week (on the 28th). Time is running out to register at those locations as well!

ABOUT MTGK

For prospective students and families, you might be wondering what MTGK is, exactly. Well, founded in 1998 by Dr. Tommy Yuan (PhD in mathematics), we are a mathematics institute offering classes for students in elementary through high school focusing on problem solving, critical, and conceptual thinking. Memorizing math formulas is easy. Applying and solving problems with these formulas is another story. Our goal in the classroom is to have our students not just be familiar with the mathematics they’re learning, but to understand the concepts behind them and how to apply them.

We want students to know why one-half times base times height yields the area of the corresponding triangle. We want students to see how one cubic foot is equal to not twelve cubic inches, but one thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight cubic inches. We don’t want our students to stumble around a problem guessing at the correct answer. We want them to be confident in their mathematics abilities.

For reference, our Fall 2017 schedules can be found here. Please check with us on the availability of each class, as each class has a maximum class size of 18 students. Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you in our classrooms this semester!
